About the role

The Senior Engineer will join the Transmission Projects team and contribute to the end-to-end lifecycle of projects from concept through commissioning. You will collaborate with internal engineering disciplines, procurement, project management, and external consultants to ensure technical excellence, safety, and timely execution. You will also play a key role in ensuring compliance with national standards and in addressing the evolving requirements of grid integration, protection schemes, and asset optimization.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead electrical design reviews for HV transmission lines and substations (up to 765 kV where applicable) and ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE standards.
  • Develop technical specifications, scope of work, and bid documents; evaluate vendor proposals and provide technical clearance for procurement and construction.
  • Prepare and monitor project schedules, budgets, risk registers, and contingency plans; track progress against milestones.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Protection & Control, Civil, SCADA) and external EPC/Consulting firms to ensure seamless integration of systems.
  • Review drawings (one-line diagrams, cable routes, protection settings), perform protection coordination checks, and validate commissioning test plans.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards, environmental norms, and quality assurance procedures; participate in safety reviews and audits.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, lead site visits, and support troubleshooting during commissioning and handover to operations.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BE/BTech); post-graduate specialization in Power Systems or MBA in project management is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in electrical design, planning, and project execution for high-voltage transmission projects.
  • Strong knowledge of GIS/SCADA, HV/LV substations, protection schemes, and power system studies (ETAP, etc.).
