Role overview

The Assistant Relationship Manager will be responsible for acquiring new customers, onboarding them to SBI’s retail banking products, and sustaining long-term relationships. You will work closely with branch teams to achieve sales targets, ensure timely processing of applications, and provide a high-quality customer experience. You will also engage in needs-based discussions, identify cross-sell opportunities (savings, deposits, loans, cards, investments), and collaborate with product and operations teams to resolve customer queries efficiently.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a portfolio of retail clients within the assigned territory; conduct regular reviews to understand evolving financial needs.
  • Prospect through branch networks, referrals, and digital channels; conduct client meetings, needs assessment, and product demonstrations.
  • Onboard customers while ensuring compliance with KYC/AML norms and SBI policies; collect and verify necessary documentation.
  • Process loan applications and other product requests with accuracy and speed; coordinate with operations to ensure smooth disbursal and issuance.
  • Maintain accurate customer records in SBI’s CRM system; monitor sales activities, track key metrics, and provide weekly updates to management.
  • Adhere to regulatory requirements, risk management guidelines, and ethical selling practices; protect customer data and ensure privacy.

Qualifications and experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is preferred. MBA candidates are encouraged to apply.

Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on experience in retail banking, relationship management, or sales within a financial services environment. Prior exposure to branch operations and customer lifecycle management is advantageous.

Skills: Excellent communication in Marathi, Hindi, and English; strong interpersonal skills; ability to build trust with diverse clients; proficiency with CRM tools and MS Office; data-driven decision making; and a target-oriented mindset.
