Position: Senior Engineer – Electronics
Location: Bengaluru (Bangalore), Karnataka, India. The role is based at BEL’s Bengaluru campus with occasional travel to project sites, suppliers, and customer locations as required.
Role Overview: The Senior Engineer will lead hardware design and integration activities for state-of-the-art electronics systems used in defense applications. The incumbent will collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to translate requirements into robust hardware and embedded software solutions, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance with military standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead design of analog/digital electronic subsystems including RF front-ends, digital processing boards, and embedded controllers.
- Translate system requirements into detailed hardware specifications, schematics, layout, and test plans.
- Oversee PCB/ASIC/FPGA design cycles, perform reviews, and ensure conformance to MIL-STD/MQE standards where applicable.
- Coordinate hardware validation, environmental testing, reliability assessments, and EMI/EMC testing; document results and drive issues to closure.
- Collaborate with firmware engineers to integrate embedded software (Embedded C, microcontrollers, and relevant RTOS) with hardware modules.
- Mentor junior engineers, manage risk, and contribute to project timelines and cost controls.
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards; participate in audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech in Electronics & Communication or Electrical Engineering from a nationally recognized university.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in electronics hardware design, testing, and debugging; prior exposure to defense electronics is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of circuit design, signal integrity, EMI/EMC, PCB design tools (Altium/Cadence), and testing equipment.
- Proficiency in programming and firmware development (Embedded C/C++, HDL such as VHDL/Verilog is desirable).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
