State Bank of India SBI invites applications for the position of Credit Risk Analyst to join its Risk Management team in Mumbai. This is a full time role designed for professionals who can blend quantitative analysis with sound underwriting judgment to support lending decisions across SME, retail and corporate portfolios. You will work with data scientists, product managers, and relationship teams to monitor risk, assess creditworthiness, and suggest action plans to strengthen the bank’s portfolio quality while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct credit risk assessment for new loan applications across segments including SME, mid market and retail partners.
  • Build and maintain credit models, scorecards, and risk indicators using historical data and forward looking scenarios.
  • Perform data exploration, quality checks, and validation of risk outputs to support underwriting and pricing decisions.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, identify early warning signals, and propose interventions to mitigate deterioration in asset quality.
  • Collaborate with Corporate and Retail teams to translate risk findings into actionable recommendations for approval committees.
  • Prepare risk reporting packs for senior management and regulators as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelors degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field; MBA or PGDM is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in credit risk, loan underwriting, credit analysis, or risk management within banks or financial institutions.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with proficiency in data manipulation, Excel, and SQL. Experience with risk platforms is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Basel II/III frameworks, lending policies, fraud risk controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to present complex data in a clear manner to diverse stakeholders.
