Role Overview
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) invites qualified electrical engineers for the position of Assistant Engineer (Electrical). The role is based at the corporate headquarters in New Delhi and offers exposure to large-scale power and industrial projects across India. The engineer will work with multidisciplinary teams to translate design concepts into practical, safe, and reliable electrical systems. The role is suited for proactive individuals who can balance technical rigor with timely execution in a PSU environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the complete lifecycle of electrical projects from concept to commissioning, including design reviews, equipment selection, and testing procedures.
- Prepare and verify technical drawings, specifications, and bill of materials; ensure compliance with applicable standards and safety norms.
- Coordinate with internal departments, suppliers, and contractors for procurement, fabrication, and delivery of electrical components; track progress and report deviations.
- Support site supervision during installation, testing, commissioning, and handover; document test results and ensure satisfactory performance before acceptance.
- Contribute to risk assessments, quality assurance plans, and safety protocols to maintain high standards of reliability and safety across operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
- 2-4 years of relevant professional experience in electrical design, power systems, instrumentation, or field engineering.
- Proficiency in electrical design software (AutoCAD, ETAP or MATLAB), familiarity with wiring diagrams, protection schemes, and control logic.
- Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to work in cross-functional teams and manage multiple tasks under deadlines.
- Desirable: exposure to project management processes, safety regulations, and quality management systems.
